Greening Our City: Healthy One-Planet Communities: Creating Planetary, Community and Personal Health
Cork Chamber has teamed up with SHEP Earth Aware, Green Spaces for Health, Cork Healthy Cities, the Environmental Research Institute, UCC and Cork Environmental Forum for this informative webinar on making Cork a greener city. These sessions will highlight the importance of how a greener city is not only more pleasant to live in, or to visit, but how it also improves the health, wellbeing and social cohesion of citizens, helps sustain biodiversity, mitigates the effects of climate change and provides opportunities for innovative and sustainable economic development.
To discuss these topics, we will be joined by Dr Trevor Hancock, Public health physician, Health promotion consultant and retired Professor and Senior Scholar at the School of Public Health and Social Policy at the University of Victoria.
Dr Hancock's areas of interest are population health promotion, healthy cities and communities, public health, healthy public policy, environment and health, ‘green’ hospitals, health policy and planning, and health futurism.
With the development ongoing of the new Cork City Development Plan 2022 to 2028, now is an opportune time to consider what kind of a city we want to live in for the future.
