Status RED Snow-Ice Warning & Cork City TIDAL Flood Alert
Met Éireann has issued a Status RED Weather Warning for Munster and Leinster for Snow-Ice, coming into effect from Thursday 16.00 until Friday 12.00 - read more on this online.
Cork City Council wish to advise that there will be a period of very high astronomical Spring Tides from Thursday 1st March until Monday 5th March. A tidal surge and periodic strong southerly/south-easterly winds are also predicted over the next few days. Earth Hour 2018
For 2018, Earth Hour will take place on Saturday the 24th of March from 8:30 – 9.30 pm. Across the globe, people will turn off their lights for one hour to reflect their commitment to protecting our shared environment. World renowned buildings and landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Sydney Opera House will go dark for the hour. This year the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Tony Fitzgerald has committed support and will switch off the lights at City Hall.

Cork Chamber will be participating for 2018. Earth Hour is hoping for more businesses to get involved, and is asking for employees to also be encouraged to participate at home as well as promoting to customers, suppliers and contacts via various social media channels, websites, newsletter and blogs.
City Centre Update Event
Cork City Council and CORE cordially invite you to a City Centre Update event and launch of the 2018 Cork City Centre brochure. This is a follow-up to a similar event held in 2016 and will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at 6p.m. in the Clayton Hotel, Cork City. The City Centre is undergoing significant change at present and this event and publication will provide an update on what has happened in the previous two years and is planned for the coming years.
You will hear about many of the capital developments, events and collaborative activities taking place at a city and quarter level in our great city centre with inputs from a variety of local stakeholders. Light refreshments will be served.
