Our Economic Trends reveals business experience of Q3 2023 and outlook for the quarter ahead. Some top findings include:

1. 95% of businesses are confident in their business from a financial perspective
2. 74% of businesses reported specialist skills shortages as the top barrier to filling vacancies
3. 58% are implementing energy efficiency or renewable energy measures
4. 39% cite time constraints as the top barrier to enhancing sustainability

Cork Chamber has welcomed today’s announcement that PepsiCo is to invest €39 million into its Little Island site, following the completion of a €127 million investment at the site, will expand the company's manufacturing capacity and see the rollout of a major solar PV installation.

It was also very positive to see Boston Scientific’s acquisition of a facility within the IDA Business Park on Model Farm Road. A further expansion of the company’s footprint in Cork would mark another significant milestone for Boston Scientific whose growth continues to enrich and strengthen the entire region.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is seeking the views of stakeholders to inform the development of the National Industrial Strategy for Offshore Wind, a roadmap to ensure that Ireland captures a significant proportion of the value of the supply chain to deliver an Offshore Wind Energy (OWE) sector of scale.
