The findings of Cork Chamber's Q4 2024 Economic Trends survey reveal a high level of business confidence as 2025 begins, with 96% reporting feeling confident about their business at the close of 2024.

 

Energy Efficiency is also a top priority for many businesses, although funding constraints around the implementation of energy efficiency measures remain.

The SEAI has launched two new eLearning modules to help businesses reduce energy costs, focusing on efficient hot water management and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS). Both modules can be accessed free of charge on the SEAI Energy Academy platform.

The Energy Efficiency Grant supports the investment in technologies and equipment of enterprises following on from a Green for Business Report, GreenStart Report or a SEAI Energy Audit with 75% of eligible costs from a minimum grant of €750 to a maximum of €10,000.

Starting in 2023, Ireland introduced a new annual public holiday to celebrate St Brigid's Day. This holiday is observed on the first Monday of February. However, if the 1st of February falls on a Friday, then that Friday becomes a public holiday instead. The St Brigid’s Day public holiday falls on Monday, Feb 3rd this year. It may seem quite straightforward but there are actually several considerations for Irish businesses with respect to their Employees’ public holiday entitlements. We consider some tricky scenarios…
