Enhancing Your Environment
Little Island Sustainable Transport Progress

“We welcomed the Little Island Transport Strategy earlier this year and the recent issuing of tender documents to deliver enhanced access for public transport and pedestrians and cyclists on the Island is very welcome", Director of Public Affairs, Thomas Mc Hugh.

Cork Chamber has welcomed the work of Cork County Council towards delivering sustainable transport options for Little Island.

Director of Public Affairs, Thomas Mc Hugh said, “We welcomed the Little Island Transport Strategy earlier this year and the recent issuing of tender documents to deliver enhanced access for public transport and pedestrians and cyclists on the Island is very welcome. Designs for access to the train station, East Gate Business and Retail Park will complement and enhance public transport and improve pedestrian/cyclist access on the Island.

“Connectivity to the Island will remain critical and progress on the Dunkettle Interchange, Glanmire and Carrigtwohill cycleways are also essential for the resilience of the Little Island and one of the key economic drivers of Cork and the southern Region.”

“The County Council are to be commended for working with the business community and National Transport Authority to drive a progressive agenda for an area without sustainable transport options.”
