Gearing up for the M20 – Cork and Limerick Chambers Join Forces in Campaign

Cork and Limerick Chambers have joined forces to campaign for the advancement of the M20 Motorway - a highly significant commercial route linking the cities of Limerick and Cork and facilitating connectivity along the Atlantic Corridor.

While there have been repetitive discussions about upgrading the road to motorway status, all plans were shelved during the recession. Last year, however, Government committed €1m in funding for Transport Infrastructure Ireland to re-start the planning process for the M20 motorway. Seeing this as opportunity to seek additional funding in the upcoming mid-term review of Capital Investment Plan, Cork and Limerick Chambers have commissioned Indecon Economic Consultants and RedC Research to assess the socio-economic benefits of upgrading the N20 Cork to Limerick road.

The objective of this analysis is to re-establish and re-affirm the economic importance of completion of the scheme for the Southern and Mid-West Regions to act as a competitive driver of growth. The study will focus specifically on:

  • Transport Benefits of the M20 Scheme
  • Economic Impacts of the M20 Scheme
  • Community and Social Impacts of the development

As part of the process and to inform the study, we are seeking the views of your business and will be in touch shortly with a survey link. As always, all survey results will be kept anonymous and presented in aggregate format only. If you have any questions please contact Sarah.

We look forward to hearing your feedback and thank you for your engagement on this important issue!
