Update on Cork Chamber Policy Committees
The Policy Department has held its first meetings of the newly established Transport & Infrastructure Committee and the Economic & Enterprise Committee. In 2012, the Chamber implemented its new policy structures and now has two policy committees in place who are committed to advancing our strategic interests throughout 2013. These committees provide a mechanism through which our members can engage in the public policy process. This issue provides details on these new committees. Fundraiser for New Children's Leukaemia Unit at Cork University Hospital & Children’s Leukaemia Association
Date: 20th April Time: First Race 7.50pm Venue: Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium Cost - Family Ticket €20 (admits 2 adults & children)
The Children’s Leukaemia Unit in the Mercy is to be relocated to a new Pediatric wing in Cork University Hospital. The Dept. of health is partly funding the new wing, however the Children’s Leukaemia Assoc. and other charities have to raise the balance. As part of the fund raising effort, we are organizing a Race night at Cork Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 20th of April. This will be a great family night out and we expect to have over 2000 people to attend. All those attending will receive a race programme and we are selling advertising packages on the programme to businesses in the Cork area and beyond.

Ambassador of India to attend UCC conference honouring Irish Sikh scholar Max Arthur Macauliffe

The Ambassador of India to Ireland Mr Debashish Chakravarti is to attend a conference at University College Cork (UCC) this Friday 15th March, which will honour the work of Max Arthur Macauliffe, the great Irish scholar of the Sikh religion. Macauliffe is deeply respected by Sikhs and scholars of Sikhism worldwide for his publications on Sikh scripture and history, but few realise he was an Irishman. 'Representing Sikhism', which is organised by the Study of Religions Department, UCC will see distinguished speakers from the USA, Canada, UK and Ireland gather to discuss Macauliffe, 100 years to the day since his death (11th September 1838 – 15th March 1913).
