Technology for Embedded Systems (TEC) Gateway Open Day, Nimbus Centre, Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Friday 20th June 2014, 09:30 to 14:00
The TEC Gateway Industry open day takes place on Friday, June 20, in the Nimbus Centre (CIT). TEC Gateway is part of the Nimbus Centre, Ireland’s only research centre dedicated to the ‘Internet of Things’; networked embedded electronics and software system solutions. The ‘Internet of Things’ refers to advanced connectivity of devices, systems and service and it is an expanding area for the Nimbus Centre. The Centre has 80 research engineers and these engineers specialise in developing high-tech prototypes for clients with an innovative idea. The Nimbus Centre currently has €5,000 worth of research assistance on offer to assist with innovative ideas.
The open day will outline the following:
- CIT’s Innovation Eco-system; including industry innovation supports within CIT and the TEC Gateway;
- Enterprise Ireland funding mechanisms for innovative projects;
- Presentations by companies who have successfully worked with the TEC Gateway in the past;
- Commercialisation opportunities;
- The Water Services & Systems Innovation Centre’s (WSSIC) information on the latest water technologies;
- Mallow Systems Innovation Centre’s information about trialling products in a real-time lab situation;
- National Sustainable Energy Test Bed will outline how you can trial your own technology;
- Announcement of winner of €5,000 worth of research for the ‘Internet of Things’.

Enterprise Europe Network matchmaking opportunities at Food Matters Live, ExCel, London, 18th to 20th November 2014
Food Matters Live is a new annual event which explores the relationship between food, health and nutrition; bringing together the food and drink industry, government, and nutrition and health professionals. The event will provide a platform for cross-sector debate and collaboration and it will also address the opportunities and challenges for the food and drink industry; providing professionals across the food, health and nutrition sector to make new contacts and forge relationships to innovate, drive change and improve future health outcomes.
