Cork Chamber has released its second quarterly economic trends survey of 2014. This survey gathers data on the financial performance and business experiences of member organisations over Q2 and also seeks your outlook across a number of key financial measures for the forthcoming quarter.
This quarter’s survey special focus is on Budget 2015 and the key budget actions that you believe would benefit business activity and growth. As always, your input is vital in informing our policy priorities and lobbying campaigns. |

Cork Chamber Welcomes 210 new jobs for Cork
Cork Chamber President Gillian Keating has strongly welcomed this week’s succession of job announcements for the Cork Region. The positive announcements include 130 jobs for the newly re-opened Kingsley Hotel, 40 jobs with Alien Vault who are establishing their EMEA Sales and Technical Support Centre in Cork City and a further 40 jobs announced for Itron Inc at their facility in City Gate, Mahon.
In response to these announcements Ms. Keating stated that, “It is a significant and welcome boost for Cork and clearly demonstrates the region’s commitment to providing the environment within which companies can succeed”.

Mission for Growth to China to help enterprises benefit from major growth regions in the world
Under the theme of Mission for Growth, the EU Commission will lead a trade mission to Chengdu, China from 21st to 23rd October 2014. The mission seeks to offer a unique opportunity for SMEs to meet selected businesses in fast growing markets, The draft programme is available on the dedicated website.
European Commission Vice-President Antonio Tajani remarked that; "Major non-EU markets with strong growth rates represent significant opportunities for EU enterprises. Beer Tasters Needed!

Cork’s newest Micro-brewery and pub will be opening its doors over the August bank holiday weekend. The occasion marks one of the first returns of manufacturing to Cork’s City Centre in several years and will create 40 new jobs when running at full capacity. Live music will be playing on Friday and Saturday nights and sports fans will be well catered for with plenty of large HD screens and all major events being shown.
