European capital cities and New York emerged as the top priorities for future connectivity from Cork Airport for business travellers, according to the results of Cork Chamber’s Cork Airport Survey 2026.
The survey, conducted by Cork Chamber in partnership with Cork Airport, captures a snapshot of businesses’ current route preferences and priorities for future connectivity, as well as business travellers’ satisfaction with broader airport services and operations in Cork.

New York emerged as the top priority for respondents for both business and tourism travel, cited by almost a quarter of respondents as the number one priority for inbound tourism.
34% of respondents cited a European capital as a top priority for future business connectivity, with Berlin, Copenhagen and Madrid emerging as key priorities.

From an inbound tourism perspective, destinations in the US, particularly Boston, emerged as key priorities for respondents.
In Europe, Berlin also emerged as a top priority for responding businesses.

Direct connectivity into Cork Airport remains a top priority for firms operating in Cork or based out of Cork when welcoming colleagues to their offices from overseas.
87% of respondents indicated that direct connectivity into Cork was extremely important or very important for colleagues travelling from overseas.

European hubs emerged as the most popular business destinations from Cork Airport at present. Heathrow was cited by respondents as the most frequently used hub for onward travel, followed by Amsterdam-Schiphol and Frankfurt.
London emerged as the most popular destination, with 68% of respondents citing one of the city’s airports as one of their most frequently visited destinations. Amsterdam, Paris and Frankfurt emerged as the next most popular destinations for business travel from Cork.

When travelling long-haul, half of all respondents indicated that the Americas was the region they conducted business with most frequently (50%), followed by Asia/Middle East (17%). |
