Painting the Town Purple
Purple Flag Award Success for Cork City

Purple Flag Cork City Centre

Cork City has again been successful in its bid to achieve the Purple Flag award status for 2017. The Purple Flag, originally awarded in 2015, is an international accreditation with successful cities and towns distinguished as vibrant, diverse, enjoyable and well-managed locations for all those to enjoy an evening or night out. The application process brings together stakeholders from across the public, private and voluntary sector in Cork to meet the awarding criteria. Cork Chamber are actively engaged on the Cork City Purple Flag award steering committee and are delighted to welcome this award success once again.

The Cork City Purple Flag weekend will run on the weekend of the 6th/ 7th October with a celebration happening across the city and with plenty of purple on display.

Shine a Light

More than 7,500 people in Ireland are homeless and the crisis continues to deepen. Focus Ireland are moving people out of homelessness and into homes of their own every single day. One third of these is a child. That's why Chamber Policy Director Thomas Mc Hugh is taking part in Shine A Light Night and sleeping-out for Focus Ireland.
