Feedback Welcome on Revenue PAYE Modernisation Consultation

Chambers Ireland will be preparing a submission in relation to Revenue’s proposals to modernise the PAYE system, as announced by Minister Noonan in his Budget statement.

The consultation paper is available here and calls for the views of employers, employees, payroll providers, tax practitioners, bookkeepers etc on PAYE modernisation. At its core, PAYE Modernisation means that, for each member of staff, employers will make the right tax deduction when the staff member is being paid, employees will have the certainty of knowing that they are not overpaying or underpaying tax and Revenue will, through real-time reporting by the employer, have the most up to date information possible to determine that each employee is subject to the tax deduction that is appropriate. It is anticipated that this reporting process by employers to Revenue will be fully integrated into the employer’s payroll run, thereby contributing to a significant streamlining of business processes and reducing administrative cost for employers.

If any Chamber or member business has feedback that they would like to be considered for inclusion in the Chambers Ireland submission please contact Sarah by 5th December 2016.

The Cork Chamber Christmas Lunch is one of our most popular events and we hope that this year will be no different.  Held again this year in association with Brightwater Recruitment, the Christmas Lunch is the social event of the season, with plenty of festive food and drink, music, raffle prizes and more.

We have a "roight chormer” visiting us this year, as the one and only Ross O’Carroll Kelly ventures outside the Pale to entertain us at the Vienna Woods Hotel for the Christmas Lunch.

As always, this event will be held in partnership with the Marketing Institute in Cork and we hope to have a great mix of both organisations on the day.  So, make sure to come along to the Vienna Woods Hotel for some seasonal networking.  This is a fantastic opportunity to entertain clients and colleagues, so book a table and make a day of it!

Join us at this workshop, held in association with the EU SME Centre (China) to learn more about the WeChat phenomenon and how it is changing the face of e-commerce and communications in China. WeChat is sometimes described as the Chinese equivalent of WhatsApp, but in reality, the WeChat app has a lot more functionality than WhatsApp, including the widely-used instant payment and money transfer facilities. The event will feature Mark Hedley, EU SME Centre Expert; and Adam Knight, cofounder of Tong Digital.

The EU SME Centre is an EU initiative that provides a comprehensive range of hands-on support services to European SMEs doing business with or looking at China. Tong Digital is a digital agency at the forefront of branding, communication and technology services in China.

If you are interested in the Chinese market, in e-commerce with China or in app development, then you need to understand how WeChat works! Tap into China’s 700 million WeChat users and understand what they like and dislike about your products and services.
