Enhancing Your Environment
Go Ahead for Morrison’s Island Scheme

A €6m investment in Morrison’s Island has been given the go ahead by Cork City Council.

We welcome this decision. Since the floods in 2009, we have consistently campaigned for public investment in city centre flood protection. The Morrison’s Island scheme will deliver on this, as well as kickstart regeneration of this part of the city.

As part of the scheme we will see a reduction in central parking spaces. If this is a concern to you, please get in touch so together we can work on finding alternative solutions.

Construction is expected to begin before the end of the year.

LGBT Awareness Week

Cork Chamber were delighted to raise the Rainbow Flag on Tuesday 15 May to show our support for Cork City's 8th Annual LGBT Awareness Week which was officially launched at a ceremony in City Hall on Monday.

There are events taking place across the city throughout the week to mark LGBT Awareness week culminating in a Party in the Park on Saturday 19 May. Taking place in Bishop Lucey Park, this family friendly will feature food stalls, face painting, music and entertainment and is designed to demonstrate that a tolerant city is a better city for everyone.

Pure Cork Roadshow

The Pure Cork Roadshow will take place in Cork City, West Cork, North Cork, East Cork on 23 and 24 May.

Hear about Visit Cork’s work to date, the Pure Cork destination brand and new website, learn how to sell Cork collectively, listen to a panel discussion, take part in a Q&A with industry leaders, network and promote your business.  The event will be facilitated by Jonathan Healy, broadcaster and motivational presenter.

Cut the Cost of Your Commute

Did you know that you can cut the cost of commuting and incentivise the use of public transport with the Tax Saver Scheme? Apart from a significant saving for the employee, employers also save on PRSI all while supporting a greener environment.

Very few businesses in Cork are currently registered for the scheme and we encourage you to make use of this free employee perk. Simply register online, login, and start purchasing monthly or annual tickets for employees. The cost is deducted directly from the employees’ gross salary with savings up to 52% of the regular ticket price.
