Cork Chamber is delighted to partner once again with the Chartered Accountants Cork Society for our April Business Breakfast in association with the Irish Examiner.
This breakfast event will provide you with valuable insights into the role of cyber-security systems, while also giving insights into the growth of the cyber-security sector in Ireland.
As technology develops, so do the risks that are associated with it. Thus, the cyber-security industry is an area of rapid growth. It has been reported that nationally, there are 6,000 people working in the sector, with an estimated 2,000 of them in Cork.
We are delighted to have Dr. Eoin Byrne, Cluster Manager, Cyber Ireland and Mike Harris, Partner in Grant Thornton's advisory practice and leads the provision cyber security services as our guest speakers.
On the day we will also hear from Ronan Murphy, CEO Smarttech who will bring his experience of cyber-security to life and help you gain insights into how cyber-security can work for your business.
Dr. Eoin Byrne, a senior researcher in CIT, is leading the development of the national cluster for Cyber Ireland. Cyber Ireland is an initiative to establish a collective voice that represents the needs of the cyber-security sector across Ireland. Dr. Byrne will give insights into the growing industry of cyber-security, along with its challenges and opportunities.
Mike Harris advises clients in Ireland and internationally on a range of cyber security, technology fraud and risk issues including cyber security breach response and assessment. He has acted in security leadership roles for both UK and Ireland based financial institutions. In addition, he has held technology roles in an Irish mobile telecommunications operator and a global management consultancy based in Germany. Mike will extend his knowledge on cyber security and how to protect your company against cyber risk.
Ronan Murphy, CEO Smarttech, a multi-award-winning cybersecurity organisation that provides innovative solutions to global companies. In 2010, Smarttech decided to reinvent the company so it would have a sole focus on cyber-security, building technology that is the first of its type.
With high-tech crime costing companies worldwide an estimated $600 billion, this is an opportune time to hear how companies can build resilience against potential hackers and cyber fraud.
