More than 7,500 people in Ireland are homeless and the crisis continues to deepen. Focus Ireland are moving people out of homelessness and into homes of their own every single day. One third of these is a child. That's why Chamber Policy Director Thomas Mc Hugh is taking part in Shine A Light Night and sleeping-out for Focus Ireland.

Feel Good Friday 29th September 2017
 

The Irish Association of Barbershop Singers Convention returns to Cork this October 6th-8th and we are delighted to announce that there will be a number of performances on the Cork City streets on Friday 29th to celebrate Feel Good Friday! The weekend is bursting with things to do; everything from dancing along to cheesy classics at the Decades Festival to singing along with a spectacular line up of gifted musicians at the annual Cork Folk Festival so be sure to check them out!

Do you have 3 minutes? – Cork Public Bike Scheme Survey
 

Cork Chamber would like to ask your opinion in this survey of 11 questions as a commuter/ business owner/ service provider on a network expansion and the locations that you think would be most advantageous for further bike stations in Cork. Please click here to have YOUR OPINION included and we ask that you participate before the survey close on Friday 6th October. The survey should take no longer than 3 minutes of your time. The Cork Public Bike Scheme (Coke bike) scheme is funded and run nationally by the National Transport Authority and although there is no funding to expand the network in Cork currently, we at Cork Chamber and as part of the Transport and Mobility Forum for Cork hope to gather data to support ongoing and future efforts as we promote for the investment in the Cork network.

Only one in four Cork firms confident of meeting the deadline for GDPR compliance
Alarm bells should be ringing on data protection, according to the results of a new survey conducted by Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) at Cork Chamber and it@cork. Local firms were asked about their preparedness for the introduction of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May 2018.
 
EEN at Cork Chamber and it@cork are this week running Get to Grips with Data Protection, a seminar to support SMEs get ready for GDPR and providing expert advice. GDPR relates to personal data and brings most companies into the sphere of regulation by the Data Protection Commission.

As well as being MD of Twitter Ireland, Sinéad is also VP of Twitter's Public Policy and Communications team in EMEA.  A Midleton native, Sinéad has been a key leader within the Twitter team since she joined the company in 2012. Sinéad is a qualified barrister and has a wealth of experience with former roles including Director of Communications for An Garda Síochána, Director of Media and Public Relations for the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Special Adviser to the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
