Brexit identified as number one business concern but business confidence levels reported at a high

Cork Chamber’s third quarterly economic trends survey of 2017 reports on the activity and sentiment of Cork businesses over the months of July, August and September, with the findings reflective of a confident, pragmatic and optimistic business community.

Survey respondents listed their top 5 concerns for business growth as follows, brexit; cost competitiveness; changing consumer spending/ reduced orders; skills availability and access to credit.  Respondents commentary also highlighted future international tax policy across the US and EU, and future strategies affecting corporation tax.

Mr. Conor Healy, Cork Chamber CEO, in commenting on the findings added, “The quarterly economic trends survey is instrumental in assessing the sentiment across the Cork business community. For Q3, we are again enthused to see business confidence levels reported at a high of 96%, mirroring that of Q2. We also report an overall increase to 39% in confidence levels in the Irish economy compared with 3 months ago, a steady improvement since Q1 2017.”

Subsidised Training
Using Skills Analysis & Learning as a Tool for Business Growth
Starts November 7th - €175 for Chamber Members

Owner Managers of companies can sometimes overlook the importance of defining a Learning and Development Strategy as a tool that can assist them in the achievement of their overall company objectives. Businesses will often have a financial plan, a sales plan and perhaps a vision and mission statement as instruments that can guide their activities. Rarely will they have a Strategic Learning Plan.

The aim is to embrace learning as a core business tool that can help a business to achieve its growth objectives.
